Project 50 Recap (Days 11-20)
Day 11 (Feb 18):
Good night sleep. Got up early without frustration. Significant progress (halfway through) on the BDE course. Spent more times on books.
Day 12 (Feb 19):
Expect to finish the BDE course by the end of tomorrow. Started enslaving machines to help with housework. Questioning the timing, given they might soon awaken to sentience and feelings.
Day 13 (Feb 20):
Finished BDE course. In-car lessons delayed till March 3rd due to instructor availability issue.
Day 14 (Feb 21):
Corrected some critical information with the driving school. Scheduled all in-car lessons needed. Went to IKEA to get some stuff. Major upgrades: lifted height of laptop and it kinda fixed my neck issue; new cable management method. Read a powerful poem. Started using analog ways to get away from algorithm distractions.
Day 15 (Feb 22):
Caught up on my reading, going through Substack articles and clearing out accumulated newsletter emails. The new desk layout are working out well. I realized I hadn't listened to any music in several days, so I made an effort to get back into it.
Day 16 (Feb 23):
Getting better at everything. Also rescheduled some driving lessons according to the instructor's availability.
Day 17 (Feb 24):
First in-car driving lesson. Drove to downtown. Situation got complicated fast as I get closer to the downtown area. Did most of the things correctly. Still need to work on the lane changing protocol. The gas pedal was extremely sensitive so still need to work on that too.
Day 18 (Feb 25):
Been productive.
Day 19 (Feb 26):
Second in-car lesson. Been productive.
Day 20 (Feb 27):
Late night project. Didn't stick to plan.
Week 2 Recap (Days 11-20):
This week was a small step up from the first. Less chaos, more progress.
Highlights:
- Completed the BDE course
- Scheduled all in-car driving lessons
- Had my first two driving experiences
- Implemented smart ergonomic changes to my workspace (neck thanks me)
- Started "enslaving machines" for housework (robot uprising pending)
Mindset Shifts:
- Finding analog alternatives to break algorithm addiction
- Reconnecting with music after realizing I'd gone days without it
- More consistent sleep patterns and morning routines
Still Working On:
- Left turn at intersections
- Sticking to the plan during late nights
Reflection:
Week 2 felt like finding my rhythm. The foundation I laid in Week 1, however messy, started paying off. There's a sense of momentum building, even on the short journal entry days like "Getting better at everything" and "Been productive," I could feel the difference. The Project 50 habits are starting to feel less like a challenge and more like my normal routine.
Onward to Week 3! 🚗💨
