Day 1 of Project 50

Today marks the beginning of my Project 50 journey, and I couldn't have picked a better time to start. Having graduated high school a semester early, I'm in this unique transition period where life is simultaneously busy and flexible. Between planning campus visits, preparing for my G2 driver's license test, and weighing housing options for post-secondary education, etc. My plate is pretty full, but not overwhelming.

The first day brought some surprising wins. Usually, I'm that person who wakes up at 7:30 AM only to set another alarm for 8:10 AM. But today was different. When my 7:30 alarm rang, I actually got up! The morning felt fresh, which sets a positive tone for the day.

There were moments today when I felt a bit overwhelmed, constantly questioning whether I was doing things "right." Should I follow everything in a specific order? Does a specific activity count? Am I on the right track? While I didn't complete everything on my major task list today, I managed to maintain a healthy diet and stick to a better sleep schedule, which feels like a solid foundation to build upon.

The beauty of starting Project 50 during this transition period is that while I'm less busy than my former classmates who are still finishing Grade 12, I have enough on my plate to make these habit changes meaningful and challenging. It's the perfect opportunity to establish healthier routines before the next chapter of my life begins.

By the end of today, yes, I'm tired. But it's a different kind of tired, more like the satisfaction of taking the first step toward positive change. While I might not see dramatic results yet (it is just day one, after all), I can feel the potential for transformation in the coming weeks.

Here's to the next 49 days of growth, challenges, and hopefully, many more early morning wins!

What is The Project 50 Challenge?

The Seven Rules of the Project 50 Challenge

  1. Wake Up Before 8 AM: Maintain a consistent sleep schedule with at least six hours of rest.
  2. Morning Routine (1 Hour, No Distractions): Dedicate the first hour of the day to activities like meditation, journaling, or mindfulness without using phones or social media.
  3. Exercise for 1 Hour Daily: Engage in any physical activity such as yoga, running, or gym workouts.
  4. Read 10 Pages Daily: Focus on motivational, educational, or self-development books.
  5. Dedicate 1 Hour to Learning a New Skill: Spend time improving or acquiring a skill without distractions.
  6. Follow a Healthy Diet: Avoid alcohol, sugary drinks, and unhealthy foods while drinking plenty of water.
  7. Track Daily Progress in a Journal: Reflect on your experiences, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
